July 23, 2025 Roundtable of the Institute for Global Politics Themed “Russian Totalitarianism As a Threat to Global Security”
The work of the next roundtable held by the Institute of Global Politics at the beginning of this week can be considered quite effective, because many politicians and experts responded to the invitation to participate in it, and comprehensively covered the topic proposed by the organizers. This time it was about russian totalitarianism as a threat to global security, which is confirmed by current phenomena, including the Russian-Ukrainian war, the consequences of which can be predicted, but, of course, not definitively determined. After all, the current war is not just some event, but a great crime, its consequences will remain bitter for more than one generation of our descendants.

In general, almost forty people made speeches, although there could have been more, had time permitted. In addition to the familia rto readers permanent participants in roundtables, traditionally held by the Institute of Global Politics, foreign representatives, which included citizens of Great Britain, France, Moldova, Georgia and other countries, came to discuss an important topic. Some of them specifically arrived in the capital of Ukraine, as well–known British experts James Nixey and Megan Gittoes, Moldavian politician, former Moldova Minister Vitalie Marinuța and others. Many respectable analysts, experts, journalists and human rights defenders were contacted through Zoom, as usually does political scientist and journalist Olivier Védrine, head of the parliamentary group for connections with Ukraine in the Parliament of the United Kingdom John Wittingdale. Member of the Parliament of the UK Stephen Gethins, a former member of the UK Parliament Robert Seele and many others. By the way, more than one and a half dozen guests used the Internet “bridge”.
But this time, the audience of the roundtable was significantly expanded by representatives of the russian opposition, who found the opportunity to be personally present, despite the difficulty of getting to Kyiv from different European countries, in order to personally convey their position and the opinions of those russian citizens who oppose the totalitarian policy of the current leadership of the RF, who one way or another, sooner or later, must answer for their inhumane actions and deeds. Their speeches will also be in the traditional printed edition, which after such an event is published in several languages and sent to interested specialists. Especially as this time representatives of the enslaved peoples who are still part of the RF, such as the Buryats, Bashkirs, Ingush, Chechens, Yakuts and others, got in touch.
It should be noted that they are very well versed in the Russian-Ukrainian war and cited many facts that can explain their tribesmen’s participation in what is called the Special Military Operation in Russia. And this, first of all, is the insidiousness of the Russian state leadership, which, not only by deception, but also by economic hardships, encourages citizens of remote areas to resolve their daily problems through signing a contract for military service, as a result of which they get to the war. The speeches of the invited guests can be called a clear analysis of what is happening on the political map of Ukraine, and how heterogeneous Europeans are in their perception of the role of our state in protecting Europe, not to mention something larger.
President of the Institute of Global Politics O. Bereziuk, summing up each speech, supplemented them with interesting facts, inviting the audience to also join the analysis in order to summarize the direction of current geopolitics, since in this way it is possible to determine its features and even help the current state leadership in its further activities important for Ukraine.
